Behavior, Management, & Well-Being - Overview

Behavior, Management & Well-Being is a program that is dedicated to the central mission of Kansas State University as a land grant institution.  The production of livestock is an important agricultural commodity in Kansas and makes a significant contribution to the state economy.  The successful production and slaughter of these animals is predicated on animal care programs that ensure good health, humane care and handling to assure the quality of life of the animal, and the safety and value of the consumer end product.  The animal health, behavior and welfare program provides research, education and outreach to students, producers and processors, food retailers and the public concerning issues associated with animal production and management, handling, transport and processing practices.
