Henrique is originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil. He obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2013 and his Master's Degree in Animal Science from the same university in 2016. Henrique joined Kansas State University in 2016 as a PhD student with the Applied Swine Nutrition Team. His research focuses on determining the histidine requirements for nursery pigs, effects of zinc and copper sources for nursery and grow-finish pigs, evaluating novels DDGS sources for nursery pigs, and effects of feeding higher levels of soybean meal in late nursery. Henrique also manages one of the group's off-site commercial research facilities with four 2,400 head wean-to-finish barns. This entails weekly communication with on-site staff, data management and analysis.
