K-State Animal Science Leadership Academy

The K-State Animal Sciences Leadership Academy is an intensive four day educational experience designed to enhance the leadership skills and animal science knowledge of high school students. The program is hosted by K-State Animal Sciences and Industry and sponsored by the Livestock and Meat Industry Council. The goal of this academy is to further develop young leaders within the livestock industry and prepare them for a successful future in this field.

Dairy U

Developing the next generation of dairy industry leaders is the goal of the Dairy U program. High school students with an interest in discovering opportunities within the industry are encouraged to apply now for this four-day immersive educational opportunity throughout southwest Kansas.

4-H Livestock Sweepstakes

All Kansas 4-H'ers are invited to participate in a livestock learning and competition experience. 4-H'ers can test their knowledge in Livestock Judging, Meats Judging, Livestock Skillathon, and Livestock Quiz Bowl. Prizes will be given in each contest, with the addition of overall Sweepstakes buckles to the team and individual placing the highest when all contests are combined.

Junior Producer Days

Specie producer days are held to provide educational material and hands-on experiences for youth, parents, leaders, and extension agents. Various speakers share information on topics such as selection, nutrition, showmanship, fitting, reproduction, feeding, and disease control. Talks, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and door prizes are present at all events.

K-State Judging Camps — Livestock and Horse

Champions Livestock Judging Camp — A three day, intense judging camp designed for 4-H and FFA members (ages 14-18) who are seriously interested in enhancing their livestock judging and oral communication skills. Prior livestock judging experience is necessary for this camp. Workouts will be conducted similar to those at a collegiate level.

Beginner Horse Judging Camp — This camp is designed for youth with very little experience judging horses and would like to learn more about note taking and oral reasons.

Advanced Horse Judging Camp — This camp is designed for youth with some experience judging horses and would like to learn more about note taking and oral reasons.
